Parents, guardians, family members and community members who give of their time provide students with enriched learning experiences. As a volunteer, you will also discover the many rewards of helping students achieve their personal best. Volunteers perform many different tasks in our schools. Some of the more common experiences include:

  • Field trips

  • Special events

  • Classroom support

  • Library support

  • Reading programs

  • School beautification

Student safety is our key priority and so, in accordance with the provincial Volunteer Background Check Policy all volunteers must provide the following to the school:

  1. A completed Child Abuse Register search, which can be applied for here!

  2. A certified and true copy of a Criminal Records Check with Vulnerable Sector Check available here, from the Tantallon RCMP detachment or through online organizations endorsed by Nova Scotia law enforcement agencies.

These are good for three years, so you may need to update yours as your child grows. If the application costs for these are in any way prohibitive to your involvement in our schools please reach out to TESPA or to the main office at the schools and we will consider financial assistance.

Thank you so much for considering volunteering at Tantallon Elementary Schools - people like you help make our school great!
